Roaming - travelling outside Spain

You can activate your phone so that you can make and receive calls and SMS and use data anywhere in the world - roaming. Below is a list of tariffs for calls made and received, messages sent and received and data used in the 3 different zones: Europe, the rest of Europe including the USA, Canada and Magreb and the rest of the World.

Exceptions and Notes

All prices quoted below exclude sales tax (IVA).

Premium and special call rates.

Premium national numbers (calls while roaming to premium numbers in Spain) - these are charged at the national rate of the premium number plus the corresponding roaming rate.

Premium international numbers (calls while roaming to premium numbers of other countries and calls to satellite phone networks -these are charged at 8,52€ per minute with a 0,46€ connection fee.

Marine operators

Coverage is available on boats with some operators that Orange have an agreement with. Maritime coverage is available with Oceancel (Simmin network), Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) and MCP all have the following tariff for calls made and received 8,52€/min. The connection fee is 0,46€. All calls are charged by the second from the first second.

Satellite operators

Orange has an agreement with Thuraya. Calls while using the Thuraya to the whole of Europe, as defined above, USA, Canada and Magreb are charged at 1,71€/min. The rest of the world is charged at 3,21€/min. A connection fee of 0,45€ is charged at the onset of every call. The charge to receive calls using Thuraya is 1,20€/min. These prices exclude calls made to premium or special rate numbers.

Premium and special rate SMS & MMS availability

Premium SMS are charged in two parts the first is at the tariff in which the SMS is sent the second part is charged at the determined national premium rate. SMS sent in Cuba are charged at 1,00€/SMS.

SMS sent by the satellite operator Thuraya is charged at 0,75€/SMS to all terrestrial destinations and 1,00€/SMS to other satellite operators.

The MMS service is subject to the availability of GPRS service in the country in which you are travelling.

Data

Please note that data is charged in 100kb blocks except email which is in 10kb blocks.

Blackberry & Mobile Professional Data packages- all data used while roaming is not included in your monthly data allowance and is charged at the aforementioned rates. If you are not waiting for an urgent e-mail we suggest that you turn of your data connection and then connect when you are in a wifi zone, assuming your phone supports it, or you connect every couple of hours or so. This will avoid the continual communications with the mail servers, which all have a minimum cost.
